PDF (Portable Document Format) has become the standard for any downloadable document, manual, newsletter – due to its ability to reliably reproduce regardless of “application software, hardware, and operating systems.”
Whilst most people associate the PDF standard with Adobe it’s actually available for anyone to develop software without paying royalties.
Which means that there are LOADS of PDF programs available if you don’t want to pay the AU$17.00 per month for access to Adobe’s flagship “Adobe Acrobat Pro DC”.
For instance – one of my biggest annoyances is manuals that come in a ‘locked pdf’ format – meaning that you can’t remove the foreign language pages that are of no use to print a handy manual … unless of course you get a password removal utility.
My current favourite is released by Tenorshare – PDF Password Remover
PDF Password Remover allows you to get access to password protected PDF instantly. It can unlock PDF documents and remove editing, copying, converting and printing restrictions within seconds. It supports all password protecting or locking PDF documents created with all versions of Adobe Acrobat or any other PDF application.
The user interface is a little ‘clunky’ & you cannot ‘drag & drop’ but – It could hardly be any easier to use!
Select the file(s) you need unlocked & press Start – your unlocked files are almost immediately available.
This is ‘trial-ware’ – you get a certain number of functions before you need to purchase the full version … currently US$14.95
My rating: 4.5 stars.
